whimsy wednesday: march 11
how i'm chasing whimsy this week
Well, well, well—it’s time for another dose of whimsy on this fine Wednesday. Another illness has made its way through our household this week, and this time my husband is the unfortunate target. The allergies are relentless, the sneezing is plentiful, and the pollen seems determined to make its presence known. But the sun is shining. New opportunities are on the horizon. And despite it all, we are whimsying.
This week, I’m getting bulk soil delivered so I can finally dive into planting my spring garden. There is something deeply satisfying about the beginning of a garden season—the blank slate of beds waiting to be filled, the quiet optimism tucked inside seed packets, the promise that with a little patience and care, something beautiful (and hopefully delicious) will grow. I’ve been sketching out my beds, thinking about what will go where, and dreaming of the months ahead when tiny seedlings will turn into leafy abundance (and I’m sure my bunny will be absolutely thrilled).
Gardening always feels a little like practicing faith to me (and I keep trying even through failures). You tuck something small and unassuming into the dirt, tend to it with care, and trust that time, sunlight, and a bit of magic will do the rest. I’m ready to get my hands dirty again.
As usual, here are some ways that I’m chasing whimsy this week:
Hiring an Etsy witch for a manifestation spell.
Planting my spring garden.
Borrowing physical media from the library.
Volunteering at my local animal shelter.
Reorganizing my closet.
What are you doing to cultivate whimsy this week?
What I’m Reading: Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner
What I’m Hearing: Project Hail Mary (loving the audiobook still!)
What I’m Watching: The Secret Agent (almost done with all the Oscar noms!)
What I’m Smelling: Not a Perfume by Juliette Has a Gun
