whimsy wednesday: april 22
how i'm chasing whimsy this week
I had a really, really lovely vacation last week. I spent long afternoons by the pool, sipping non‑alcoholic passionfruit margaritas, reading all the books (five of them!), and letting myself be carried by the sounds and smells of the ocean just beyond me. It felt indulgent in the best way—slow, sensory, unproductive.
Coming home to a rainy week actually feels kind of nice. I’m a little gloomy right now, nursing the ache of being rejected from a program I really wanted to get into. It’s disappointing in that quiet, lingering way, the kind that follows you around.
But I keep thinking: when we’re feeling low is exactly when we need whimsy the most, isn’t it?
So here are some small, gentle joys I’m leaning into this week:
Smelling the jasmine blooms on my walk.
Listening to the rain instead of distracting myself with media.
Shopping Independent Bookstore Day.
Volunteering at the animal shelter.
Researching a simple makeup look I can perfect.
What are some small joys you’re partaking in this week?
What I’m Reading: Famesick by Lena Dunham
What I’m Hearing: Spring storms
What I’m Watching: ER to fill the Noah Wyle shaped hole
What I’m Smelling: Magnolia Bliss by Juliette Has a Gun
